My name is Sylvia, and I am the maker of TheGracefulSparrow! I just expanded my shop from Etsy, where I have been selling handmade Crochet items for about two and a half years, with over 100 sales. I'm so glad you are here to join me in this new chapter of my shop's yarn adventures! 😊💕🧶

This first blog post is an introduction post - I'll share what I make, some fun facts about me, and a few future plans for my shop! Let's dive in! 😊

WHAT I CROCHET 🧶

The first crochet items I ever sold were Crochet Bookmarks, and they still continue to be a best seller in my shop! I have a variety of colors, from my original pink to some seasonal fall colors! 🍂🍁📖

My favorite items to crochet are Crochet Plushies, which are the most popular products in my shop! From chickens to sea turtles, people love to purchase them as gifts! They are so much fun to make, plus super cute! 💗🥰

Crochet Baby items are a collection that I am actively trying to grow in my shop. I started with some super cute Heart/Teddy Bear Binky clips and a few beanies. I want to grow the beanie section this winter, plus add a few blankets! 💕

Lastly, I sell Crochet Home Decor and Bags (the newest addition to my shop)! My Crochet Tiny Hearts are quite popular around Valentine's Day, along with the crocheted Hanging Hearts! People love to decorate with those! My Lace Drawstring Bag is the first of my bag collection I hope to increase this year! 💗😊

FUN FACTS ABOUT ME 🌸

✨I am 26 years old, an only child, and married as of March 14th of this year (2026)! 💕🥰

✨My mom taught me to crochet! I grew up watching her make prayer shawls and blankets, and finally at about 20 I also wanted to learn! However, I struggled to learn crochet at first. I gave it up for awhile, but tried again about a year later - with success!!! 😄

✨The first thing I ever crocheted was a bright red blanket for my (now) husband! We were dating long distance at the time and I wanted my first project to be a gift for him! (One of his favorite colors is red!) I was 22 when I made it! 🧶💕

✨I opened my Etsy shop in February of 2024 after I graduated college and realized I wanted to work from home selling things I've made! Originally I wanted to sell embroidery or candles, but crochet is what I knew at the time, so that's what I started with! 😊

✨I went to college for a degree in Elementary Education, and I love to teach others! I hope to someday teach other inspiring crocheters the art of crochet! I still feel like an advanced beginner though... so maybe in a few years I'll make a YouTube channel for teaching crochet! (My husband has encouraged me to!) 😊

✨I named my shop after Luke 12:6-7, which reads, "Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows." 💗

✨My other handmade interests include sewing, quilting, embroidery, painting, and making my own skincare items! Also I have been playing the flute since age 12, and I love music dearly! I hope to learn piano someday! 🎹🎶

FUTURE PLANS 🌷

I hope to expand my shop this year to include some crocheted and quilted baby blankets! I am not sure if I will sell the quilted blankets here, since it seems to be primarily for crochet items, but I do already have a quilted placemat available on my Etsy!

I am currently learning how to make granny squares, so look forward to some cute bags and blankets made from granny squares!! I am already working on a Mushroom themed little bag! 🥰🍄
